I was actually seriously considering putting this shirt in the donation bin. I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge lace person. This shirt I got at Winners 3 summers ago and have maybe only worn once since. It’s a heavier soft lace which is what drew me to purchasing this top to begin with. I like the raw edges and longer sleeves, however it is a bit big on me fit-wise and can get warm when wearing in the sun and then cold if there’s a breeze. I layered a white bralette underneath and paired it with my VERY beloved medium-wash ripped jeggings from AE to balance the girly with a bit of edge. I was ecstatic about the warmer weather (which in Toronto means there’s no such thing as an intermediate season) and decided to break in my new Steve Madden sandals. I’m still not 100% sold on keeping the top but I do like how it looks here and I feel like there will come a point when my lace shirt will be missed.

Verdict: Maybe… keep Keep

UPDATE: The 3-way Challenge

When I find myself particularly conflicted about whether to keep or toss a clothing item, I challenge myself to match it in 3 different ways. It doesn’t have to be season appropriate, but all 3 have to be outfits I can see myself comfortably walking out of my home in. Since sheer lace is more summer appropriate I went with summer pairings with shorts and overalls. I will admit that I like these outfits and I’ll be keeping my lace shirt for another season of wear.

Also, you may have noticed I am now sporting a finger “cast”. The event itself was summarized in my personal blog (link here) but you’ll be seeing it in the next few posts as it heals. Boo-erns.

Day #31 – Tiger Cave Waterfall

Clothing Object: UO Tiger print V-neck tee

A lazy day calls for a very lazy outfit. I went to my go-to ripped jeans, converses, cardigan, tee combo today in a graphic tee that I haven’t worn in YEARS. I can tell you I got it some time in 2008-2009 when UO first opened in Kingston. It’s super thin, so thin in fact that it’s see through in the light grey regions. Because of this it makes this t-shirt awkward when not tucked in (and a bit awkward when tucked in as well). I’m not a huge fan of the deep V, nor the thickness (or lack thereof) or awkward length of this shirt. Since I’m just hopping over to work today it’ll suffice for the project but I’ve already mentally said goodbye to this shirt the second I put it on this morning. Also the cardigan that I’m wearing is one that I can’t even date for purchase. I got it before I started working at GARAGE (2010-2012) and kept it only because it was simple enough to wear to work to meet the “all branded” criteria. It’s so old and too much like my more beloved cream waterfall cardigan from H&M that it’ll likely also end up in the donation bin but I’ll feature it again possibly in one final hurrah. Note: Tiger Cave Waterfall is a real place. Who knew?

Verdict: Donate

Update: Upon further thought I decided that I’ll be donating both the cardigan and the tee. I’ll still wear it to work though, one last time.

Day #29 – Flower Power

Clothing Object: F21 Floral print tank top

I guess now that spring weather is just around the corner I’m in a floral print kind of mood. This is a tank top I believe I purchased last summer, but I could be wrong. It’s thin and loose-fit (cut very open at the sides), so again a great layering piece, but not so much on its own. Here I matched it with brown leather accents and my beloved new Coach court bag in British tan. I recently got my bag in the mail and couldn’t be more thrilled. It’s the perfect size to fit all my essentials (including my kobo) and the classic brown that I’ve been missing in my wardrobe all these years. I had been eyeing this bag for awhile so when the opportunity to get 25% off my purchase came along, I jumped at the sale. It’s just in time for warmer weather and light(er) travelling. Anyway since this post will go up at the end of the long weekend I hope y’all had a wonderful Easter holiday. I happily celebrated the good news of Jesus running back and forth between church and work. Hopefully when life and work starts to settle down I can relax and enjoy holidays again. What a novel idea.

Verdict: Keep

A comfy outfit for day 6 of my 10 day stretch of work. I got this tee 3 summers ago on an F21 online shopping spree. I remember this was the only clothing item I ended up keeping from my $100+ purchase (for free shipping) and everything else got sent back. It’s thin and oversized so I like to use it as a layering piece rather than as a stand-alone top. I’m thankful this project has forced me to stop reaching for my safe, usual layering options and has brought back some of my old favourites. Here I paired it two ways. The first, for a laid back feel with my sister’s borrowed converses (yay for tiny same-sized feet) and the second, for a slightly more dressed up feel with my COACH bag and wishbone booties. In the end I opted for comfort and went to work in the converses though. Hospital uniforms ftw.

Verdict: Keep

Day #24 – All Worn Out

Clothing Object: ZARA Military button down shirt

I have no idea when I got this shirt. It’s been in my closet since at least 4th year, but beyond that is lost to me. I remember this being worn pretty heavily after I first purchased it though. It was light and fit well without being too bulky However after many washes I think it’s finally time to say goodbye to my beloved past closet staple. Since it’s ZARA quality, the material looks and feels heavily worn. Here I wore it for the last time paired with my AE jeggings, laid-back converses and F21 bag. The cardigan I have on is probably something I’ll have to feature in a different post since I’m still undecided of its fate. Stay tuned.

Verdict: Donate/Toss

So much to do, so little time. I’m sorry for the late post. I snapped this shot right before heading out for brunch today before work. I honestly can’t tell you how old this blouse is. I don’t remember if I got it before university or during my undergrad years. In any case this blouse is probably anywhere between 4-8 years old. I was happy to take it out of my hall closet for the first time in YEARS and find that it still drapes as nicely as I remembered. I know I used to roll up the sleeves to make them less billowy but now enjoy the non-rolled styling. I paired it with my fun new hat from H&M (it was the last one so I had to get the SA to take it off the mannequin) and more luxe accessories from MK and COACH.

Verdict: Keep
