Day #30 – Gloom and Doom

It was super gloomy today so I wore a super neutral outfit to go with the weather. This is the olive version of the sweater I featured in this  post that I bought last year on sale. Here I wore it with my usual collared shirt pairing and shiny black tights. I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of layering sleeved button downs under sweaters because 90% of the time I find it too stuffy. I actually have a small collection of chiffon button-down sleeveless tops from H&M that I use for layering under sweaters. They’re handy because they can also be worn in the summer under light cardigans without all the weird sleeve bunching. Also I apologize again for the weird lighting and odd posing (the CLAWW). And now that I’ve said it, that’s all you’re going to see. Heh.

Verdict: Keep

Day #29 – Flower Power

Clothing Object: F21 Floral print tank top

I guess now that spring weather is just around the corner I’m in a floral print kind of mood. This is a tank top I believe I purchased last summer, but I could be wrong. It’s thin and loose-fit (cut very open at the sides), so again a great layering piece, but not so much on its own. Here I matched it with brown leather accents and my beloved new Coach court bag in British tan. I recently got my bag in the mail and couldn’t be more thrilled. It’s the perfect size to fit all my essentials (including my kobo) and the classic brown that I’ve been missing in my wardrobe all these years. I had been eyeing this bag for awhile so when the opportunity to get 25% off my purchase came along, I jumped at the sale. It’s just in time for warmer weather and light(er) travelling. Anyway since this post will go up at the end of the long weekend I hope y’all had a wonderful Easter holiday. I happily celebrated the good news of Jesus running back and forth between church and work. Hopefully when life and work starts to settle down I can relax and enjoy holidays again. What a novel idea.

A comfy outfit for day 6 of my 10 day stretch of work. I got this tee 3 summers ago on an F21 online shopping spree. I remember this was the only clothing item I ended up keeping from my $100+ purchase (for free shipping) and everything else got sent back. It’s thin and oversized so I like to use it as a layering piece rather than as a stand-alone top. I’m thankful this project has forced me to stop reaching for my safe, usual layering options and has brought back some of my old favourites. Here I paired it two ways. The first, for a laid back feel with my sister’s borrowed converses (yay for tiny same-sized feet) and the second, for a slightly more dressed up feel with my COACH bag and wishbone booties. In the end I opted for comfort and went to work in the converses though. Hospital uniforms ftw.

Day #27 – Crochet in Colour

Day #27 – Crochet in Colour

Clothing Object: GARAGE Crochet burgandy cardigan

Sorry guys. You know I’m starting to get lazy when instead of my usual “clothing on bed” picture, you get a selfie. This cardigan is another item left of my GARAGE days (2010-2012) which is precisely the last time I remember wearing it. I love the colour and the crochet is interesting however the sleeves are awkwardly cropped/batwing/loose/tight. I don’t know if this seemingly opposite styling was due to poor craftsmanship or poor design, but either way it’s going into the donation bin to hopefully be loved by someone who appreciates its “unique” qualities. I will admit that it’s just the sort of cardigan you would find at coachella (which is probably the target audience GARAGE was aiming for) but since I’m not much of a music festival type of gal, it has no purpose for me. In spirit of my project I wore it for the last time with a simple black outift and brown accents from Le Chateau and GARAGE.

Verdict: Donate

I cheated. This is in fact a blouse I took out of my sister’s to-be-donated pile the other day. It’s a size too big for me (usually I’m a size 2 in H&M and this is a size 4) but I love the loose easy fit and the classic navy and white polka dot pattern which makes it perfect for layering under cardigans. I’m a sucker for polka dots and have already featured one of my favourite navy polka dot dresses in a previous post. Since this was originally my sister’s purchase I can’t tell you how old it is or how often it was worn. However, I’m already in love and am looking forward to wearing it now that the weather is getting warmer (sort of). Here I paired it with my H&M draped cardigan and brown accents from GARAGE and Spring.

Verdict: Reclaimed

You can tell I’m running out of clothing to feature when I have a double header of donates. This is a cardigan I got while (surprise… not) working at GARAGE (2010-2012). I love the colour but the cardigan itself is thin, super stretched out, and wrinkled in weird places. I tried to change things up and pulled out my beige pants to wear on the bottom only to realize how weirdly it folded and stretched in places as well. I’ll have to rethink keeping the pants but I’ll give it another ponder before it heads into the donate bin. As for the cardigan, it seriously has to go. But again, for the sake of my project I gave it one last hurrah before tossing it away. Good riddance.

Verdict: Donate

Day #24 – All Worn Out

Day #24 – All Worn Out

Clothing Object: ZARA Military button down shirt

I have no idea when I got this shirt. It’s been in my closet since at least 4th year, but beyond that is lost to me. I remember this being worn pretty heavily after I first purchased it though. It was light and fit well without being too bulky However after many washes I think it’s finally time to say goodbye to my beloved past closet staple. Since it’s ZARA quality, the material looks and feels heavily worn. Here I wore it for the last time paired with my AE jeggings, laid-back converses and F21 bag. The cardigan I have on is probably something I’ll have to feature in a different post since I’m still undecided of its fate. Stay tuned.
